iPhone XS Design And Display

The XS can be very easily confused with the iPhone X. The gold color of the iPhone XS makes it stands out from the X while giving the phone’s edges a classy shine. Other than that the back panel also changes color based on different lighting conditions.  The phone doesn’t come with a home button so it may take some time for users to get used to the face unlock and gesture control features which are very responsive. You will also notice that there are just three holes at the bottom left area of the screen antenna which is part of the 4×4 MIMI framework. The dual-camera set-up on the back is also slightly longer than the iPhone X. Make sure you buy a case for your phone as the durable glass gets smudged easily with fingerprints.

The 5.8” OLED display is the smallest among all iPhones released in 2018 and is perfect for watching videos while holding the phone with one hand. The phone has a resolution of 458 ppi or (2,436 x 1,125). The elegant OLED display makes the colors stand out.

iPhone XS Features And Specs

iPhone XS

The iPhone XS runs on a powerful and fast A12 processor. The processor has 6.9 billion transistors and is Apple’s first processor which has been built using the 7-nanometer process. According to Apple. The processor offers more performance than the A 11 processor while being more efficient. The extra six cores combine with the other two cores to compute about 5 trillion operations each second. There’s also a neutral engine inside for machine. Together all these added features make the XS the most power-packed smartphone of 2018.

There have been some changes made to the camera too. There’s a dual-camera system with a 12-megapixel standard lens with a f/1.8 aperture, paired with another 12-megapixel telephoto lens with a f/2.4 aperture. Both the lenses have optical image stabilization and can shoot 4K videos at 60fps.Thanks to a larger sensor the camera can now capture better photos in low-light. XS also says it improved its portrait mode and portrait lightning mode. But the larger sensor helps adds less grain in low light. A new feature present in the portrait mode is called Depth Control. This feature allows you to change the intensity of blur on Portrait Mode.

The iPhone XS is expected to remove the tag of battery problems associated with iPhones as the battery of XS can last a whole day. It is important to note that the phones come with only 2,658mAh battery. The XS comes with wireless charging support. But, the phone doesn’t come with a lightning cable or a fast-charging cable. You will need to spend an extra 19$ for the USB-C to lightning cable and 49$ for the 30W charger.

Final Words

Overall, the XS is just a simple upgrade of the iPhone X. It is still worth a buy thanks to its modest size, performance, and camera. The phone is highly overpriced at 999$ for the 64 GB model. But the worst part is that Apple is charging extra money for components which other manufacturers give for free with the phone.

  1. If you’re going to use a fast charger, probably the best advise is to use the in-box charger when charging overnight, and use the fast charger only when needed.

Fast charging generates heat, and heat leads to battery failure. Best to only subject your battery to that stress when you need it, rather than doing it daily.
