Motorola is all set to thrive sales in the smartphone market with the recent launch of Moto Z3, currently priced at $480. The handset will soon launch on 15th August and is already creating a lot of buzz with its 5G modem Moto Mod. One of the fascinating smartphones of the year, Moto Z3 has subtly upgraded from its Motorola predecessors Moto Z2 Play where specs are concerned. Moto Z3 will be the very first smartphone to access Verizon’s 5G network.
The handset exclusively comes in 64 GB storage variant coupled with 4Gb of RAM space. It also continues the Moto Z-Series does have a long-standing legacy of the Moto Mod support via a dedicated back connector. The Lenovo-owned smartphone company has no plans to release a Moto Z3 Force any time soon. However, Z3 will be the first ever 5G smartphone aided by Verizon in the international market for the year.
Moto Z3 Design and Display
The new Motorola handset features a vivid 6.1 inches HD+ display (6.16 x 3.01 x 0.27 in) protected by the latest corning gorilla glass 3. The polished aluminium 6000 back and glass rear body of the device is dust or splash resilient. It has an overall attractive build and weighs about 156 grams.
Moto Z3 sports a super AMOLED touchscreen with 16 Million display colours. A pixel density of 1080 x 2160 assists in delivering next-generation user experience as well. There is a water-repellent coating on the device which makes it immune to damages caused by liquids. The Motorola smartphone also has a 12MP dual rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 ad dual-tone flash. It offers up to 84-degree field of view and considerable image quality. The selfie camera offers picture quality of 1080p at 30fps. Laser Autofocus Color and Correlated Temperature features come inbuilt in the camera as well. Moreover, connectivity options of Moto Z3 include Bluetooth v5.0, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB Type-C, GPS/ A-GPS and NFC.
Moto Z3 is gaining some negative reviews given the absence of 3.5 mm headphone jack. The dual back camera with a side fingerprint sensor on the right and bottom speaker grill makes up for quite a stylish design. Colour variant available is limited to Ceramic Black.
Moto Z3 Features and Specifications
The device sports a decent battery capacity of 3000mAh and runs on the Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 processor. The former counts as a setback to support the handset’s massive 6.1 inches display and 5G network service. Though it comes with a quick charging 15W feature and several handy ones like one button navigation which make it considerably user-friendly.
Moto Z3 runs on the recent Android 8.1 Oreo which is upgradeable to Android P. Gesture control is one of the most notable features in the device. One can access flash and camera by gestures after activating the Moto Actions feature of Moto Z3. MP3/AAC+/WAV/Flac player is a major feature highlight as well. The device is missing FM radio which again, is a set back for several accustomed users. The Moto Display feature lets users know of all the notifications at a glance. Other features include the familiar face unlock and Turbo quick charging
Motorola smartphones are not particularly famous for audio quality. This one seems to be for audiophiles with an active noise cancellation feature coupled with a dedicated mic. Sensors in the device are the fingerprint scanner, gyroscope magnetometer. These are coupled with a proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light. In-built photo editor and document viewer are available at users’aid. The recent Adreno 540 GPU is present as well.
The all-new 5G Moto Mod will enable many tempting features in the smartphone. High-speed 4K live streaming, amazing video chatting and smooth gaming experience will be a plus. Furthermore, price currently rests at $480 for 64GB storage capacity and 4GB RAM in the ceramic black colour variant.
